From the Laptop...

I'm a little tired. I suppose in the grand scheme of things that little fact is immaterial. Nevertheless, in my reality, being a little tired is a very big thing.

In the first place, my diet changes dramatically. I have to switch to thicker foods, with very little or no chewing required. This isn't always a simple thing, since I am limited in what I am able to prepare and do not currently have an attendant. So, that means my intake decreases significantly, which in some circles could be considered quite a boon.

Still, Mr. Fatigue follows me, dogging me worse than my actual dog. He throws things under my feet, tightens the screws on my muscles and drapes me in a weighted winter coat. Dirty, rotten... Not that I don’t have enough trouble already... [Sigh]...

Perhaps that's the reason I am really excited about this issue.

Dystonia Living Magazine is something special to me. It gives anyone who is willing an opportunity to speak his mind, share her experience, or invite others to participate in community.

DLM is strength.

This month we talk about coping. We launch our new podcast featuring the brilliant, Dystonia advocate "Shakey Amy" Behar. Eric Vondran gives us a snapshot of his usage of Medical Marijuana (mmj) to ease Dystonia symptoms. Jennifer McKnight bans the "D" word entirely, while Scott Pierce revamps awareness. We offer fiction and tips.

So, welcome back! Here's hoping that the many holidays of the winter season found you well and left you better.  May you enjoy a new year full of joys, positive enlightenment and peace-- and if you haven't already, please donate, volunteer and say a prayer for those affected by the Haiti earthquake.

Take care and be well...

Rebekah
